# Prayer Offering the Most Precious Blood of Jesus for the Dead
*2016-11-20*

> Bill Young reflects on the Feast of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary and leads a series of prayers offering the blood of Christ for the souls in purgatory, especially his own family members.

## The Feast of the Presentation

Good morning, this is Bill Young and welcome to the Prayer and Lunch podcast. Today, November 21st, we celebrate the Feast of the Presentation of the Blessed Mother. According to tradition, Mary's parents brought her to the Temple in Jerusalem as a child to be consecrated to the Lord. Even before her birth, God had a plan for Mary—to become the mother of His Only Begotten Son, who would die for the sins of the world and redeem humanity. This mystery reminds us that God has a plan for each of us, even if it is not as lofty as being the Mother of Jesus.

## Current Events (Brief Note)

In the news, the transition team is considering several candidates for the incoming administration, including Mick Romney for Secretary of State, former U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions (nicknamed “Mad Dog”) for Secretary of Defense, and others. I’m simply noting these developments as part of the day’s context.

## Offering the Most Precious Blood of Jesus for the Dead

Now let us pray the traditional prayer offering the most precious blood of Jesus for the dead.

Eternal Father, I offer You the most precious blood which Your beloved Son shed during His agony in the Garden of Gethsemane, on the cross, and from the wounds of His Sacred Heart, that the souls in purgatory may be liberated. I especially pray for the souls of my family: my parents, Eleanor Young and William Robert Young Sr.; my uncles Sam, Brownie, and my aunts Raleigh, Molly, and Louise Cicirrella; my grandparents George Young and Mary; my sister’s youngest son, Matthew; my former boss Clifford Daly; and all those I may have omitted. May the perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. Amen.

## Prayer to Our Lady of Sorrows

Let us pray.

Most lovable Jesus, I humbly implore You to offer to the Eternal Father, for the sake of the holy souls in purgatory, Your most precious blood shed in Your agony and death. We ask Our Lady of Sorrows to present to the Father the sorrows of Your Sacred Heart, that the souls in purgatory may obtain relief, be freed from torment, and sing forever in Your divine mercy. Amen.

## Closing Thanksgiving

I thank the Lord for the blessings He has given us—our families, friends, and extended loved ones. May He grant us peace and bring all souls back to His glory. Through the Holy Spirit, may He guide us today and always, so that we may adore Him in heaven with the angels and saints.

*May the blood of Christ bring eternal rest to the souls we love and deepen our trust in God’s salvific plan.*
