# Prayer for President‑elect Donald J. Trump
*2016-11-14*

> Bill Young leads a prayer for the newly elected President Donald J. Trump, reflecting on the political climate, the pro‑life motivations behind the election, and asking God’s protection and wisdom for the administration.

## Opening Remarks

Good afternoon, this is Bill Young welcoming you to the Prayer at Lunch podcast. Today we are offering a special prayer for our newly elected President, Donald J. Trump. The prayer comes from a prayer booklet I received nine years ago from Deacon’s wife Rosemary, and it is one I have not yet used.

## The Political Climate and Demonstrations

Demonstrations are a vital First Amendment right, but they must be exercised responsibly. One cannot incite violence, cause property damage, or endanger lives. There are claims that many protesters are paid agitators, and if anyone instigates riots they should be held accountable for any harm caused.

## Why Many Believe Trump Was Chosen

Beyond typical political issues, many Catholics see the election as a divine intervention to protect the unborn. The concern is that recent Supreme Court nominees could have permitted abortions even after partial birth, threatening the most vulnerable lives. The Church teaches that abortion is the murder of innocent children, and those involved will be judged by God.

## The Prayer for President‑elect Trump

Oh God, creator and defender of humankind, you who created man in your own image, look upon your servant Donald J. Trump, who is under attack by unclean spirits and shaken by the adversary’s assaults. Put your seal upon him, protecting his soul, body, chest, organs, and heart. Drive away the tempter and defeat any evil that seeks to harm him. May he serve with a steadfast heart and sincere mind, guided by the Holy Spirit. Through Christ our Lord, amen.

## Prayer for the Administration

Let us also pray for Vice President Mike Pence, for those appointed to the cabinet, and for the judges who will uphold the Constitution, the First and Second Amendments, and the right to life for all humans, born and unborn. May they make wise choices that reflect God’s truth.

## Closing Thoughts

I have also posted a patriotic rosary that includes prayers for each of the 50 states, drawing on the words of our founding fathers. Feel free to listen, pray along, and share your comments on Block Talk Radio or via email at wryoung12@yahoo.com.

*May God grant President‑elect Trump wisdom and protection as he leads the nation.*
