## A Day for the Right to Life

Good afternoon. This is Bill Young and welcome to the Prayer N Lunch podcast. Today is Wednesday, November 9th, 2016, at the 3 o'clock hour. It is a fabulous day for those who believe in the right to life—for those who believe that killing unborn babies is killing humans, and for those who believe in the family and respect for life from birth until death. Today is a great day. Last night, the United States elected Donald J. Trump as President of the United States.

## Prayers for the New Administration

We pray that all the good things Mr. Trump said he is going to do will be fulfilled. We pray for Donald J. Trump, for his vice president nominee Mike Pence—a great man—and for all those he chooses for his cabinet. We also pray for those he will nominate for Supreme Court justice; may they do justice and believe in the Constitution of the United States. May those justices believe not only in our freedom of religion and Second Amendment rights, but in our freedom to love God Almighty. As a humble servant and a flawed sinner, I ask that our President and Vice President serve the Lord and that their cabinet always do God's will.

## The Hour of Mercy

Today we are observing a special prayer called the Hour of Mercy. For those who are not aware, the Hour of Mercy is the three o'clock hour, the time when our Lord died on the cross. I want to thank our Lord because I asked and prayed that He would find a way to save the unborn from the cruel and unnecessary death of abortion on demand.

As recorded in the Diary of Saint Faustina, Jesus reminded her that as often as the clock strikes the third hour, we should immerse ourselves completely in His mercy, adoring and glorifying it. In this hour, mercy triumphs over justice, and we can obtain everything for ourselves and for others. Jesus desires that the moment of His agony on the cross be honored every day at 3 o'clock in the afternoon, as it is an hour of grace for the whole world.

## Prayer and Meditation

The prayer of the Hour of Mercy is strictly linked to the third hour of the afternoon. We address our petitions to Jesus Himself, referring to the virtues and merits of His sorrowful passion. We pray: 'O Blood and Water that gushed forth from the heart of Jesus as the fount of mercy for us, I trust in you.'

We meditate on the fact that God could have saved thousands with a single word or sigh, but out of love for us, Jesus endured a terrible passion. Through the sacrament of the altar, He remains with us, offering a remedy for all our ills. We beg His mercy for poor sinners and pray that the rays of inconceivable grace flow upon the entire human race. We ask for the grace to faithfully do the most holy will of the Father in all things, always and everywhere, even when that will seems harsh or difficult to fulfill.

*Through the mercy of Jesus Christ, we can repent of our sins and work together to build God's kingdom here on earth.*
