# Final thoughts before election day

> On the eve of the 2016 election, Bill Young reflects on the political climate, the Clinton legacy, and the critical importance of protecting the unborn.

## Reflections on Janet Reno and the Clinton Legacy

Today is the Monday before election day, and I want to share my final thoughts before we make this big decision. I was saddened to hear of the passing of Janet Reno, the first female attorney general of the United States. While we pray for the souls of all who pass, her tenure under the Clinton administration had some troubling moments. I specifically remember the case of Elián González. This little boy came from Cuba, and while his family in Miami fought for his freedom, the situation became political. I remember the heartbreaking images of an INS agent in full military gear pointing a machine gun at a crying seven-year-old child. It was heartless and unnecessary force. Hillary Clinton was First Lady at the time and remained silent, despite her claims of caring for children. It seems the Clintons have a history of picking politics over children.

## Concerns Over Integrity and Power

Recently, the FBI cleared Hillary Clinton regarding her email scandals, which I find disappointing. Reports indicate that confidential information was being handled without proper security clearances. Furthermore, WikiLeaks has raised serious questions about the Clinton Foundation. It is disheartening to see reports that foundation funds, which people believed were for charity, were used for family expenses. I call for an independent prosecutor to investigate these 'pay-for-play' activities. When a candidate accepts millions from foreign governments that do not respect women's rights or human dignity, it suggests a puppet presidency. If Hillary Clinton is elected, I fear it will doom the United States and the world.

## The Fight for the Unborn

One of the most critical issues at stake is the protection of the unborn. In the last debate, Hillary Clinton indicated that partial-birth abortion could be acceptable even very late in pregnancy. In Western civilization, with the availability of C-sections, the vast majority of these cases are not truly life-and-death situations. We have moved from a position where abortion was only for critical situations to one where it is on-demand and taxpayer-funded. Everything we have worked for regarding the respect for life will be thrown out the window if we do not make the right decision now, especially as the Supreme Court will be decided.

## A Call to Vote and Pray

I encourage everyone to vote tomorrow. Do not be discouraged by major network polls that may show a lead for Hillary Clinton; other respected polls show the race is much tighter. This is not just a duty, but a responsibility given to us by Almighty God. We must stand up for the family, freedom of religion, and the Second Amendment. I will be reposting my 'Patriotic Rosary' for election day, as we desperately need the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

## Prayer to the Holy Spirit

To close, we pray the Adsumus, an ancient prayer to the Holy Spirit: We are here before you, O Holy Spirit. We feel the burden of our weaknesses, but come together in your name. Come to us, assist us, and come down into our hearts. Teach us what we must do and show us the path to follow. Inspire and guide our decisions, because only you, together with God the Father and His Son, have the holy and glorious name. You who love order and peace, do not let righteousness be harmed by us. May ignorance not cause us to stray from the right path, and may neither titles nor people's influence sway us. Keep us close to you through the gift of your grace so that we may be one in you and not draw away from the truth in any matter. Grant that we may combine goodness with firmness, so that we may do all things in harmony with you, in hope that we shall earn eternal happiness in the future. Amen.

*Voting is not only a civic duty but a spiritual responsibility to protect the unborn and the fundamental freedoms given to us by God.*
