# Trump needs to step down if he really loves this country

## A Difficult Decision

Good afternoon. This is Bill Young, and welcome to the Prayer N Lunch podcast and radio show. Today we are doing a special episode following the recent events of the political race between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. I want to be clear that the views I am sharing are my own; they are not the views of the Catholic Church or any other organization.

After prayerful consideration, I have to withdraw my support for Donald J. Trump. This does not mean I am voting for Hillary Clinton. However, I honestly feel that if Donald Trump loves this country as he says he does, he must withdraw. Otherwise, I expect a landslide loss for him, which could lead to Republicans losing the Senate and possibly the House. He is essentially handing a powerful victory to Hillary Clinton.

## Flaws in Both Candidates

I agree that both candidates are deeply flawed. Everyone is sinful, and we all have regrets, but the amount of sin and regret associated with these two candidates is enormous. Regarding Hillary Clinton, there are serious issues. I believe the media refuses to report on the flaws of Hillary and Bill Clinton. We must remember the sexual harassment claims against Bill Clinton and the fact that he was essentially impeached by Congress. It makes me wonder if Hillary truly supports women's rights when it comes to her own family.

Furthermore, Hillary has the issue of her emails. It seems obvious that 33,000 emails were deleted after she received a subpoena from Congress. I believe an independent prosecutor would determine the truth, but as long as President Obama is in office, the process is too biased to allow for that.

## Media Bias and the Path Forward

The media bias is staggering. In the two debates we have seen, the moderators were 100% for Hillary Clinton. They are determining the race rather than letting the will of the American people decide through the vote. CNN, NBC, ABC, and CBS should be ashamed. They allowed Hillary to go over her time by a full minute, yet they cut Donald Trump off in seconds whenever his response was likely to be negative for her.

Because of this bias, the Republicans need a candidate who is not flawed—someone the media cannot tear down. I believe Governor Mike Pence proved his strength in the VP debate. He clearly won that debate and showed he could overcome any attacks the Democrats throw at him. We would have a much better chance of winning, or at the very least, keeping our Congress and Senate, if he were the nominee.

## The Moral Case for Stepping Down

Returning to Donald Trump, he says he loves his country, but words are not the same as actions. There are allegations regarding the statutory rape of girls aged 12 and 13 in the 1990s. Even if it is too late for prosecution, it doesn't mean it didn't happen. I do not want a lingering case over our president. What good is it if he is elected only to be impeached and disgraced by the full Senate and Congress, like a second Richard Nixon?

I supported Donald Trump because he has valid policies, and I still like those policies. But because of these indiscretions, he must step down. For the love of the country, he should allow someone else to take over and use those great ideas to make America great again. If he stays, he will go out in disgrace regardless of whether he wins or loses.

## Protecting the Unborn

We must also consider the judiciary. Hillary Clinton has promised to pick pro-choice judges, which means her goal is abortion on demand. This is the death of unborn babies who are alive. While I believe the states should decide the level at which abortion is allowed, we cannot have abortion on demand. This is another reason why we need a candidate who can actually win and protect the Constitution.

*For the good of the country and the Republican Party, Donald Trump should step down and allow a candidate like Mike Pence to lead with the necessary policies to win.*
