# Today's prayer: The Marian Creed
*2016-10-05*

> Bill Young reflects on the life of St. Bruno and leads a prayer through the Marian Creed, affirming the central role of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the life of the Church.

## The Feast of St. Bruno

Today is Tuesday, October 6th, and it is the feast day of St. Bruno. St. Bruno was known during the late 12th century. Born in Germany, he was a great scholar and teacher. Eventually, the Pope called him to help with various Church matters during a time of uprising and anti-Christian sentiment. He spent the last few years of his life in the south of Italy.

## The Marian Creed

Today we are praying the Marian Creed. This prayer is a firm declaration of faith in our Blessed Virgin Mary. I believe in the Virgin Mary with all my heart. I believe in her divine maternity, her perpetual virginity, and her immaculate conception. I believe in her mission as Co-redemptrix by the side of her son, our Redeemer.

## Mary's Glory and Intercession

I believe in her assumption and her heavenly glory in soul, for Mary is the image of the Church, which shall have her fulfillment in the ages to come. I believe in her spiritual maternity, her ecclesiastical maternity, and her true queenship. I believe in her intercession of grace for the growth of divine life in souls.

## Our Mother's Triumph

I believe in her loving presence at the side of all creatures as Mother, Help of Christians, and Our Lady of Perpetual Help. I believe in the universal triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, because this is her hour. I give my heart to you, Mother of Jesus.

*By affirming the truths of the Marian Creed, we entrust our hearts to the maternal care and intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary.*
