> Bill Young leads a prayer session focused on the eighth grace of the novena to Saint Michael the Archangel, seeking victory over Satan and entrance into paradise.

## Seeking victory over evil

Welcome to the 93rd episode of Prayer N Lunch. Today we are continuing with the eighth grace in the prayer and novena for Saint Michael the Archangel. This specific grace asks for protection so that we may be victorious over Satan and thus come to enjoy divine goodness with Saint Michael, all the angels, and the Lord in paradise. It is my wish for all of us that we accomplish this victory, that our sins are forgiven, and that we will be with the Lord in heaven.

## Prayers for protection

We begin by asking Saint Michael the Archangel to defend us in battle and be our defense against wickedness and the snares of the devil. We humbly pray that God rebuke him, and that you, O Prince of the heavenly hosts, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan and all his evil spirits who prowl the world for the ruin of souls. Saint Michael, enlighten us with your light, protect us with your wings, and defend us with your sword. We ask him to defend our homes from demons and their wickedness, and from evil committed by people of the earth, so that we may not perish in the last judgment.

## Foundations of faith

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. O God, come to our aid; O Lord, make haste to help me. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and was born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell; on the third day He rose again. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

## The triumph of Saint Michael

We praise you, O Jesus, life of our hearts, among the angels who hang on your every word. A mighty host of thousands of leaders combat under you. As a sign of salvation, victorious Michael displays the cross; he pushes the proud head of the dragon into the depths of hell and strikes the rebels off the heavenly rock. In combat against the head of pride, we follow this prince, so that the crown may be given to us from the throne of the Lamb. Glory be to God the Father, for He who has redeemed the Son, who was appointed by the Holy Spirit, shall protect us by means of the angels.

## The eighth grace and final petitions

O Holy Angel, we implore you, together with the Prince of the Archangels of the eighth choir of angels and all nine choirs, to take care of us in this present life, to assist us in the pangs of death, and at the very moment of our passing from this life. Under your protection, may we be victorious over Satan and thus come to enjoy the divine goodness with you in paradise.

We conclude with the Our Father, three Hail Marys, and a final plea: Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle so that we may not perish in the last judgment. Amen.

*Through the intercession of Saint Michael and the angelic choirs, we seek the strength to overcome evil and the grace to enter eternal paradise.*
