# Seventh Grace of the Novena to St. Michael – Prayer for Sickness
*2016-09-25*

> Bill Young leads the seventh grace of the Novena to St. Michael, focusing on physical and spiritual sickness, and offers prayers, the Apostles’ Creed, and a hymn in honor of the archangel.

## Opening Prayer for a Friend

Bill begins by offering the grace for sickness to his friend John, who is struggling with physical illness. He asks St. Michael and John’s guardian angel to help him in this time of need.

## Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel

St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our defense against wickedness and the snares of the devil. May God revoke him. We humbly pray, O Prince of heavenly hosts, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan and all his evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls. Amen.

O St. Michael, enlighten us with your light, protect us with your wings, and defend us with your sword. Defend our homes from demons and from the wickedness of men. Defend us in battle so that we may not perish at the Last Judgment. Amen.

## The Apostles’ Creed and Hymn of Praise

Bill recites the Apostles’ Creed:

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell; on the third day He rose again, ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

He then sings a hymn honoring St. Michael, recalling the archangel’s victory over the dragon and praising God’s redeeming power.

## The Seventh Grace – Petition for Healing

Bill invokes St. Michael, Prince of the heavenly hosts, and the seventh choir of angels, asking that they spare the nation, especially their hometown, from physical and especially spiritual sickness. He follows with the Our Father and three Hail Marys, entrusting the prayers to St. Michael’s intercession.

*May St. Michael’s protection bring us healing and keep us safe from all spiritual and physical illness.*
