# Novena to Saint Michael – Sixth Grace
*2016-09-24*

> Bill Young leads the sixth day of the novena to Saint Michael, offering the traditional prayer, the Apostles’ Creed, a hymn, and a special grace for peace and protection.

## Opening Prayer to Saint Michael

St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our defense against wickedness and the snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray. O Prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God, cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits that seek the ruin of souls. Amen.

O Saint Michael, enlighten us with your light, protect us with your wings, and defend us with your sword. Defend us from demons, from their wickedness, and from evil committed by people on earth. May we not perish at the Last Judgment.

## The Novena Prayer and Blessings

In the name of the Father, and of His Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

O God, come to my aid. O Lord, make haste to help me. Glory be to the Father, to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, now and forever, world without end. Amen.

## The Apostles’ Creed

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell; on the third day He rose again. He ascended into heaven, is seated at the right hand of the Father, and will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

## Hymn of Saint Michael{unclear}

You, O splendid virtue of the Father, you, O Jesus, life of our hearts, we praise you among the angels who follow your word. A mighty host of thousands of leaders combats under you. As a sign of salvation, victorious Michael displays the cross, thrusting the dragon’s head into the depths of hell and striking the chief rebel from the heavenly throne. In combat against pride, we follow this Prince, that glory may be given to us from the throne of the Lamb. Glory be to God the Father, through the Son appointed by the Holy Spirit, who protects us by the means of the angels.

## The Sixth Grace

O leader of the heavenly hosts, we implore you, together with the Prince who holds the first peace, to grant the power of the sixth choir of angels for the needs of those who serve you in our country, especially in our homeland. May the earth receive fertility and may peace and harmony reign among Christian leaders.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

## Hail Mary and Closing Prayer

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle so that we may not perish at the Last Judgment. Amen.

God bless you all.

*May Saint Michael’s protection guide us toward peace and fidelity to Christ.*
