> Bill Young leads the final day of the novena to Saint Michael the Archangel, focusing on the ninth grace: the petition that we may live a holy life.

## The Ninth Grace

Welcome to the 94th episode of Catholic Podcast Ministries, Prayer and Lunch. Today is the last day of our novena to Saint Michael the Archangel. We focus on the ninth grace, praying that we may live a holy life, so that we may come to enjoy God's presence together with Saint Michael, all the angels, the Lord, Mary, and all the saints forever and ever.

## Prayers for Protection

We begin with the prayer to Saint Michael: Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our defense against the wickedness and the snares of the devil. May God rebuke him. We humbly pray that you, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power of God, cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

O Saint Michael the Archangel, enlighten us with your light, protect us with your wings, and defend us with your sword. Defend our homes from demons and their wickedness, and from the evil of the people of the earth, so that we may not perish in the last judgment.

## The Novena and the Creed

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. O God, come to my aid; O Lord, make haste to help me. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be world without end.

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and was born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. On the third day He rose again. He ascended into heaven. He is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting.

## Victory Over Pride

In salvation and victory, Michael displays the cross. He pushes the proud head of the dragon into the depths of hell and strikes the chief of the rebels off the heavenly rock. In combat against the head of pride, we follow this prince, so that the crown of glory may be given to us from the throne of the Lamb.

Almighty God, grant that through the patronage of Saint Michael the Archangel, we may always aspire to heaven, and may he, whose glory we proclaim on earth, assist us by his prayers. Through Christ our Lord, amen.

## Final Petitions and Intercessions

We beseech you again, most glorious prince and defender of the militant and triumphant Church, to grant, together with the head of the angels of the ninth choir, your guardianship and patronage to us, our families, and all those who have asked for our prayers. Under your protection, may we live a holy life.

We offer our prayers to the Father, and three Hail Marys for the intercession of the Blessed Mother. We also offer four Our Fathers: the first in honor of Saint Michael, the second in honor of Saint Gabriel, the third in honor of Saint Raphael, and the fourth in honor of our guardian angels.

*Through the intercession of Saint Michael and the heavenly host, we seek the grace to live holy lives and find adequate defense against our enemies so that we may enter the presence of God's majesty.*
