# Novena prayer to Blessed Teresa of Calcutta: Day two
*2016-08-26*

> Host Bill Young leads the second day of a novena for the canonization of Blessed Teresa of Calcutta, focusing on the theme of Jesus' unconditional love.

## The example of Mother Teresa

Today we are continuing with our novena prayer to Blessed Teresa of Calcutta. We are praying for her canonization, and as we do, we reflect on the sacrifices she made throughout her life. Mother Teresa never called them sacrifices; she didn't seek glory or fame for herself. Instead, she wanted us to concentrate on the 'least of these'—the poor, the needy, and the homeless. She desires for us to follow her example, not for attention, but to serve those who need us most.

## Serving the needy in our own backyard

We don't have to go far to find those in need. We should look at the homeless in our own areas and feed the hungry. In the United States and other Western countries, we live in such abundance regarding food and clothing that we often forget the responsibility that comes with it. Remember what God says: from those who are given much, much is expected. If you have two shirts, give one to a person in need.

## Day two: Jesus loves you

For day number two of our novena, our focus is: 'Jesus loves you.' Do not be afraid, for you are precious to Jesus. He loves you. Today, we ask for the grace to be fully convinced of Jesus' unconditional and personal love for each of us. We pray that Blessed Teresa, who allowed the thirsting love of the Lord Jesus on the cross to become a living flame within her, may help us obtain the heart of Jesus.

## Intercessions and prayers

In our personal requests today, I want to thank the Lord for the tropical depression that was heading our way, which has hopefully diminished to just rain and a little wind. We also pray for the earthquake victims in central Italy and the families who have been displaced or lost their entire communities. May they know that God has not abandoned them and that He loves them tremendously. While material things can be rebuilt, the loss of loved ones is a sorrow that is difficult to express. We pray for strength for those families and that God shows His unconditional love to them.

*Allow Jesus to penetrate and possess your whole being so completely that your life may radiate His light and love to others.*
