## St. Dominic on the Feast Day

Good morning, this is Bill Young, and welcome to Saturday, August 8, the feast day of St. Dominic. We all know Dominic as a great priest, but his greatness came through his example of humble service.

## A Friendship with St. Francis

For ten years Dominic walked without shoes, living among the poor. One day he met a beggar who turned out to be St. Francis of Assisi. Their friendship deepened, and each year they would meet to pray together in their local churches.

## Prayer: My God, Do Not Forget Me

Today I would like to pray the following:

My God, do not forget me when I forget you. Do not abandon me, O Lord, when I abandon you. Do not go far from me when I go far from you. Call me if I flee from you. Draw me to yourself if I resist, and pick me up if I fall.

Give me, O Lord, a vigilant heart so that no vain desire may take me away from you; a just heart so that no perverse intention leads me astray; a strong, courageous heart that resists every adversity; a free heart, unmastered by disordered passions.

Grant me, I beg you, the will to seek you, the wisdom to find you, a life that pleases you, reverence that awaits you, and the trust that at the end of my life I shall be united with you. Amen.

*May St. Dominic and St. Francis inspire us to live humbly and trust that God never forgets us.*
