Good afternoon, I’m Bill Young, and welcome to episode 196 of Catholic Podcast Ministries, Prayer and Lunch. Today’s lunchtime prayer is called “Prayer to the Holy Spirit for the Discernment of the Truth.” It reminds us that the Spirit’s light can distinguish truth from error, dispel our illusions, and reveal reality.

## The Prayer

O Spirit of God, through your light you distinguish truth from error. Help us to know the truth. Dispel our illusions and show us reality. Grant that we may recognize the true language of God deep within our souls and distinguish it from every other voice. Show us your divine will in every circumstance of our lives so that we may make the right decisions. Help us discern the signs of God in all that He proposes to us, the teachings He wishes to implant in us. Grant that we may discern your suggestions so that we do not miss any of your inspirations. Give us supernatural perception that allows us to discover what love demands and to understand all that God generously asks of us. Above all, lift our gaze to you, O Holy Spirit, in every activity that reaches and touches us, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

## Reflection

Often we wander into ideas that are not rooted in reality or in God’s way. This prayer calls us back to the truth and to the love of the Father. By asking the Holy Spirit to illuminate our minds, we open ourselves to divine guidance in every decision and to the signs God places along our path.
