# Novena to Our Lady of Mount Carmel – Day One
*2016-07-06*

> Bill Young introduces the nine‑day novena to Our Lady of Mount Carmel, invites listeners to join, and leads the first day’s prayers.

## Introducing the Novena

Good afternoon. This is Bill Young, and welcome to the Prayer and Lunch podcast. Today we begin a special novena to Our Lady of Mount Carmel, to be prayed from July 7 through July 15. It’s a nine‑day devotion, and the name is short enough that anyone can join.

## A Personal Intention

One of our new listeners from Orlando just welcomed a granddaughter. I will pray for the health of that child—not only physical health, but also spiritual health.

## Opening Invocation

In the name of the Father, and of His Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Lord, come to my aid. Lord, make haste to help me. Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

## Day One Prayer to Our Lady of Mount Carmel

O beautiful flower of Carmel, most fruitful vine, splendor of heaven, holy and singular, who brought forth the Son of God, still ever remaining a pure virgin, assist us in our necessities! O Star of the Sea, help and protect us; show us that you are our mother.

## Our Daily Prayers

We now pray the ordinary prayers of the Church.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

## Closing

Our Lady of Mount Carmel, pray for us. God bless you all, and have a great day.

*Joining this novena invites us to place Our Lady of Mount Carmel at the center of our daily petitions.*
