# A prayer for the missions

## Supporting the PIME Missionaries

Today we are doing a special prayer for the missions. I recently received some information at St. Maximilian and Colby regarding PIME, the Pontifical Institute for Foreign Missions. PIME is a missionary institute of priests and brothers who dedicate their lives to missions among non-Catholics in 17 countries. They strive to be creative in their missionary presence, proclaiming the Gospel and promoting dialogue and understanding among different religions and cultures.

Working among the poorest of the poor, they are engaged in human development, the promotion of justice and peace, and the pastoral care of newly founded Catholic communities. ## Reaching the World

I want to share a kind message I received from a new friend on Twitter, Paula White from Orlando, Florida. She offered to pray for me, and I truly appreciate that. My own prayer is to reach as many people as possible through this podcast, the radio, and the internet.

I think back to St. Maximilian Kolbe in the early 20th century. He had a printing press and reached hundreds of thousands of people with his newspaper, long before the internet, Facebook, or Twitter. I hope to use these modern tools to communicate with our fellow man around the world and share the faith.

## A Prayer for the Harvest

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

God, our Father, you will that all people be saved and come to the knowledge of your truth. Send workers into the great harvest, that the Gospel may be preached in every culture and that your people, gathered together by the Word of Life and strengthened by the power of the sacraments, may advance in the way of salvation and love. Amen.

## Upcoming Devotions and Travels

I also want to let you know that today, July 7th, I am starting the novena to Our Lady of Mount Carmel, which runs through July 15th. Since the prayers are the same for the nine days, I will record them once so you can listen to them daily.

Additionally, I am hoping to travel to Rome during the week that Mother Teresa is being sanctified. Please pray for my wife and me, that it will be a successful trip and that visiting the relics, the beautiful churches, and the artwork will strengthen us and make us better Christians.
