# Prayer of Consecration to the Sacred Heart for Orlando
*2016-06-15*

> Bill Young leads a prayer of consecration to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, asking God’s grace and love for the victims and families affected by the tragedy in Orlando.

## A Heavy Heart for Orlando

I begin with a heavy heart for the families in Orlando who have suffered such terrible loss. A recent tragedy claimed the life of a two‑year‑old child at a Disney park. While the details are painful, we pray that God’s grace sustains the grieving parents and all who are hurting.

## Why We Pray to the Sacred Heart

The prayer we are about to say is a consecration to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The opening lines capture what we need now: “Through the Sacred Heart, grant us the grace to love each other always; let there be no more hatred among us; show us Your love.” These words speak directly to the division and pain we see in the world.

## The Prayer of Consecration

Let us pray together:

Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, hear us.

Jesus, we know You are kind and that You offered Your heart for us, crowned with thorns for our sins. Even today You pray for us, that we may not be led into temptation. Stand by us so we do not fall into sin.

Through Your Sacred Heart, grant us the grace to love each other always. Let there be no more hatred among us; show us Your love.

We ask that Your shepherd’s heart protect us from sin. Enter every heart, O Jesus. Knock on the closed doors of those who have turned away, and be patient and untiring with us. Grant us the grace to open our hearts to You, especially as we remember the suffering You endured for us. Amen.

## A Final Petition

Lord, pour out the Holy Spirit upon those who are suffering—those who have lost loved ones, those injured, and even those who survived and wonder why they were spared. May they find comfort in Your love and a deeper trust in Your providence.

*Through the Sacred Heart, we are called to love one another and reject hatred, trusting that God’s grace can heal even the deepest wounds.*
