# Novena to divine mercy: day seven
*2016-06-12*

> Bill Young leads the seventh day of the Novena to Divine Mercy, focusing on the souls who venerate and exalt God's mercy.

## Opening Prayers

We begin today's prayer in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Oh God, come to my aid; oh Lord, make haste to help me. We join in the Our Father and the Apostles' Creed, affirming our faith in God the Father Almighty, Jesus Christ His only Son, and the Holy Spirit.

## The Seventh Day: Souls Who Exalt Mercy

On this seventh day, we pray for the souls who venerate and exalt God's mercy in a particular way. These souls immersed themselves in His mercy and sorrowed most over His Passion, penetrating deep into His spirit. They are the living image of His compassion and heart, and they shall shine with a special brightness in the next life. Not one of them shall perish in the fires of hell, as the Lord particularly defends each of them at the hour of their death.

Most merciful Jesus, whose heart is love itself, welcome into Your most merciful heart the souls who in a particular way venerate and exalt Your mercy. These souls are mighty with the power of God; amidst all afflictions and adversities, they remain confident in Your mercy. United with Jesus, they carry all of mankind on their shoulders. A soul who exalts the goodness of his Lord is especially loved by Him and shall always be close to the living fountain, drawing graces from divine mercy.

## Intercession for the Faithful

Eternal Father, look with mercy upon the souls who exalt and venerate Your generous attributes and Your infinite mercy. Those already enclosed within the most compassionate heart of Jesus are a living gospel; their hands are full of works of mercy, and their spirits, full of joy, sing a hymn of mercy to the Most High.

I beseech You, O God, show them Your mercy according to the hope and trust they have placed in You. Let the promise of Jesus be accomplished in them—the promise that the souls who honor His unfathomable mercy will be defended as His own glory during their lifetime, and especially at the hour of their death. Amen.

## Litany of the Divine Mercy

Following the novena, we pray the Litany of the Divine Mercy, acknowledging that Divine Mercy is the greatest attribute of God. We trust in the Divine Mercy that gushes forth from the bosom of the Father, the incomprehensible mystery that is the source of miracles and wonders, and the mercy that encompasses the whole universe.

We trust in the Divine Mercy that descended to earth in the person of the Incarnate Word, which flowed from the open wound of the heart of Jesus, and which is unfathomable in the institution of the Sacred Host. We trust in the mercy that accompanies us through our whole life, embracing us at the hour of our death and endowing us with immortal life. From the conversion of hardened sinners to the relief of august hearts, we trust in the Divine Mercy as the only hope of despairing souls.

*By trusting in and exalting God's unfathomable mercy, we find confidence in times of hardship and the promise of His protection at the hour of our death.*
