# Prayer for the sick

## An intention for Susan

Good afternoon. This is Bill Young and welcome to the Prayer N Lunch podcast. Today we are doing a special prayer for the sick, and I want to bring special attention to my friend and disciple in Christ, Susan. I heard at the Children's or Teenage Mass that she was out sick. While I do not know how grave the illness is, we are praying for her speedy recovery because the church, her family, and God's work all need her.

## A prayer for healing and surrender

In this prayer for the sick, it is said that when these words are spoken, Jesus wishes that the sick person and those who intercede for them be commended to God. 

Oh my God, this sick person comes before you to ask for what she desires and considers to be the most important thing. God, allow these words to enter her heart: it is important to be healthy in soul. Lord, may your holy will be done in her in everything. If you want her to be healed, may her health be restored to her. But if it is not your will, may she continue to carry her cross.

## Intercession and glory

I pray also for us who intercede for her. Purify our hearts to make us worthy of manifesting your holy mercy. Protect her and relieve her of her pains. Let your holy will be done in her, and may your holy name be revealed through her. Help her carry her cross with courage.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
