# Offering the Blood of Christ for the Dying
*2016-03-31*

> Bill Young leads a special lunchtime prayer, offering the precious Blood of Christ for those who are dying, and remembers several faithful departed such as Mother Angelica, Patty Duke, and other martyrs.

## Opening Prayer

Good afternoon. This is Bill Young, and welcome to the Prayer at Lunch podcast. Let us begin by offering the Blood of Christ for all who are about to die. May the most precious Blood of our Lord Jesus preserve them from the pains of hell and lead them into the paradise of eternal union with God. Amen.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

## Prayer for the Faithful Departed

We now pray for the souls of the faithful departed. May the angels of the Lord receive each soul and present it to God the Most High. May Christ, who called you, take you to Himself. May the angels lead you to Abraham’s side and grant you eternal rest. May the light of God shine upon you forever.
All‑powerful and merciful God, we commend to Your mercy the souls of Mother Angelica, Patty Duke, and all the martyrs and holy men and women who have gone before us. Through human weakness they have sinned, yet we ask that You grant them everlasting life with You. Amen.

## Special Intentions

We especially remember Mother Angelica, who founded a Catholic television network and gave so much to the Church, and actress Patty Duke, whose life of witness touched many. We also pray for the sisters who suffered martyrdom and for all Christians who have given their lives for the faith. May the perpetual light shine upon them, and may they rest in peace.

## Closing Blessing

May the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. May the perpetual light shine upon them, and may they find the presence of Christ, the source of life, happiness, and peace. God bless you all.

*May the Blood of Christ bring comfort to those dying and eternal light to all the faithful departed.*
