*2016-03-16*

> Bill Young reflects on the Lenten theme of giving glory to the Father, using John 15:8 and praying for political leaders while urging us to seek fruitfulness in discipleship.

## Opening Prayer and Context

Good morning, this is Bill Young, and welcome to the Prayer and Lunch podcast. Today is Tuesday, week five of Lent, and we continue our series “Renew Our Hearts,” inspired by Pope Francis’ invitation to a conversion of heart. Our theme for today is “For God’s Glory.”

## A Prayer for Our Leaders

We lift up Senator Marco Rubio and his family in prayer. ## Scripture Reflection

Our reading for today is John 15:8: “My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit and become my disciples.” In union with Jesus, we seek what He seeks and love what He loves. The ultimate motivation for our lives is the glory of the Father, which Jesus pursued at every moment of His life. As the Son, He rejoiced in fulfilling the Father’s heart.

## Living for the Father’s Glory

If we are missionaries—or simply disciples—our primary aim is to bear fruit for the Father’s glory, beyond our own preferences, interests, or knowledge. Evangelization, service, and daily work become acts of worship when they are directed toward the greatest glory of the Father who loves us.

## Personal Prayer

Jesus, help me seek to give glory to You in my words and actions, that I may bear much fruit for the kingdom and become a true disciple.

*Our deepest purpose is found in glorifying the Father through fruit‑bearing discipleship.*
