# No longer lost

> Bill Young reflects on the mercy of God and the importance of starting anew during the fourth week of Lent, drawing inspiration from Pope Francis and St. Dominic Savio.

## The Example of St. Dominic Savio

Today is the feast day of St. Dominic Savio. Dominic was a young man who went to heaven at the age of 15. Living in the 19th century from 1842 to 1857, he assisted St. John Bosco in helping other children, the poor, and the needy. While he passed away young, his life was defined by his dedication to the Lord. His daily prayers kept him close to God, and with the guidance of St. John Bosco, he grew deeply in his love for our Lord.

## The Mercy of the Lord

As we navigate Thursday of the fourth week of Lent, we reflect on the theme 'No Longer Lost.' As it is written, 'How great is the mercy of the Lord, and his forgiveness for those who return to him.' There is an incredible feeling that comes with returning to God whenever we have been lost. God never tires of forgiving us; rather, we are often the ones who grow tired of seeking His mercy.

## Restoring Our Joy

God possesses a tenderness that never disappoints and is always capable of restoring our joy. He makes it possible for all of us to lift up our heads and start anew. Through a renewed encounter with God's love, which blossoms into an enriched friendship, we are liberated from our self-absorption.

## Becoming Fully Human

We become fully human when we allow God to bring us beyond ourselves to obtain the fullest truth of our being. This is the source of inspiration for all our efforts. When we receive the love that restores meaning to our lives, we cannot fail to share that love with others.

*By embracing God's tireless mercy and starting anew, we are liberated from ourselves and empowered to share His love with others.*
