# Consecration to Our Lady and St. Joseph for the people of Haiti
*2016-03-01*

> Bill Young leads a prayer of consecration to the Holy Family, specifically dedicating the intentions to those suffering from drought and famine in Haiti.

## Honoring St. Joseph and St. David

Good morning, this is Bill Young and welcome to the Prayer N Lunch podcast. Today is March 1st, and the month of March is dedicated to St. Joseph, stepfather of our Lord Jesus Christ. Today is also the feast day of St. David of Wales. St. David was a holy priest who became a bishop of Wales and lived until the 6th century. He believed in doing the little things; while I don't know if you consider the little things prayers, they certainly include the help and alms given to those in need.

## Praying for Haiti

We are dedicating today's prayer of consecration to Our Lady and St. Joseph for our brothers and sisters in Haiti. They are currently suffering through a severe drought and many are starving. Please keep these Haitian families in your prayers, and we hope that Catholic Charities will be able to contribute and help feed them.

## Prayer of Consecration

As God the Father in His infinite wisdom and abundant love entrusted you, Mary, and you, St. Joseph, with the care of His only Son, Jesus Christ, while He lived here on earth, Spouse and Holy Family of Nazareth, so do we too, having become children of God through baptism, come and consecrate ourselves to you with humble faith.

Look after us, our children, and our families with the same care and tenderness for which you looked after Jesus. Help us to know, love, and serve Jesus as you knew, loved, and served Him. Grant that we may love you with the same love which Jesus loved you here on earth. Protect us and defend us from all dangers and evil. Help our faith to grow. Keep us faithful to our vocations and our mission in the Church. Make us holy. At the end of this life, take us with you to paradise where you already reign in Christ in eternal glory. Amen.

*We are called to support those in need, like the people of Haiti, through both prayer and tangible almsgiving.*
