> Bill Young leads a guided prayer session using the Chaplet of the Tears of the Virgin Mary, focusing on the intercession of Our Lady for the conversion of families.

## Introduction to the Chaplet

Good afternoon. This is Bill Young, and welcome to the Prayer N Lunch podcast. Today, we are going to be praying a special chaplet: the Chaplet of the Tears of the Virgin Mary. In a previous podcast, we explained some of the history behind this devotion.

This chaplet is composed of 49 beads divided into seven groups, separated by seven large beads. The concluding prayers are said on three small beads. If this chaplet is recited by a group, the leader says the first part of the invocation, and the assembly responds with the second part. I have also included a modern version of the concluding prayer that I found online.

## Opening Prayers

We begin in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

O God, come to my aid; O Lord, make haste to help me. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, the only Son of our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell, and on the third day He rose again. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

We now say one Our Father and one Hail Mary.

## The Structure of the Prayer

On the large beads, we pray: 'O Jesus, remember the tears of the one who loved You most on earth and now loves You most honorably in heaven.'

On the small beads (the Hail Mary beads), we recite the following invocation: 'O Jesus, hear our prayers for the sake of the tears of Your Holy Mother.'

At the conclusion of the chaplet, we recite the first invocation three times.

## Intentions for Conversion

As we move through the beads, we offer specific intentions. First, we pray for the conversion and return of our families—sons, daughters, wives, and husbands—back to the Church with love for Jesus and His Holy Mother.

We continue to pray for those sinners who need to return to the Church, that they may commit no more sin and come to love Jesus Christ and His mother, Mary. I specifically offer a prayer for my own son, that he may return to the Catholic Church with faith and love for Jesus and Mary.

We also pray for the conversion of girlfriends and extended family members, that they may all come to know the Lord Jesus Christ. We ask that the graces granted through the tears of the Holy Virgin Mother lead our loved ones to a deep love for the Son and His Mother.

## Concluding Prayers

To close the chaplet, we repeat three times: 'O Jesus, remember the tears of the one who loved You most on earth and now loves You most honorably in heaven.'

Let us pray: O Mary, Mother of the Divine Love, Mother of sorrow and mercy, we ask You to unite Your prayers with ours so that Your divine Son, to whom we turn with confidence, may hear our prayers and grant us the graces which we ask of Him, and the crown of glory in eternity. Amen.

With Your tears, O sorrowful Mother, destroy the domination of Satan. Through Your divine tenderness, O bound and flattened Jesus, defend the world from the errors with which it threatens it. Amen.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

*By meditating on the tears of the Virgin Mary, we can seek the powerful intercession of the Mother of Sorrows for the conversion and salvation of our families.*
