*2016-02-15*

> Bill Young leads a special prayer on the feast of St. Claude de la Colombière, invoking the Holy Spirit and reflecting on the saint’s example.

## Feast of St. Claude de la Colombière

Today, February 15, we celebrate St. Claude de la Colombière (1641‑1682), a Jesuit priest renowned for his powerful sermons and his spiritual direction of Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque. He later served as confessor to the Princess of York in England. As we honor his memory, we ask for his intercession, trusting that the saints help us grow in holiness.

## Invoking the Holy Spirit

We begin the prayer for the coming of the Holy Spirit:

“Come, true Light; come, hidden mystery; come, treasure without name; come, everlasting happiness; come, light without dusk; come, expectancy of all who are to be saved; come, awakening of those who have fallen asleep; come, O Powerful One, who always renews and transforms us; come, O Invisible One, who is above the heavens, ever still yet ever moving; come to us who lie in the depths of darkness; come, O Beloved One, whose nature we cannot fully comprehend or express; come, eternal joy; come, purple robe of the great King, our God; come, you who stir desire in my heart; come, O Son, for I am alone; come, you who separate me from the world and give me solitude; come, you who become what I long for; come, my breath and my life; come, Comforter of the poor; come, my Soul.”

## Reflection on the Prayer

The prayer asks the Holy Spirit to fill every aspect of our lives—light, joy, renewal, and comfort. By invoking the Spirit in such vivid language, we acknowledge our dependence on divine grace and our longing for the transformative power that only the Holy Spirit can bring.

## Closing

May St. Claude’s intercession help us open our hearts to the Holy Spirit, so that we may become true witnesses of Christ’s love.

*Through the intercession of the saints, we open ourselves to the Holy Spirit’s renewing presence.*
