## Introduction

Welcome to Prayer and Lunch. Today we focus on a prayer to obtain the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit, a powerful way to ask God to perfect the work of His grace in our souls.

## The Prayer

O Lord Jesus Christ, before ascending into heaven, You promised to send the Holy Spirit to finish Your work in the souls of the Apostles and Disciples. Grant that I may receive the same Holy Spirit, that He may perfect in my soul the work of Your grace and love.

Grant me the spirit of wisdom, that I may not become attached to transient things of this world but desire only that which lasts unto eternity.

Grant me the spirit of understanding, that You may enlighten my mind with the light of Your divine truth.

Grant me the spirit of right judgment, that I may always choose the way most pleasing to God and fulfilling His will.

Grant me the spirit of courage, that I may carry my cross with You and overcome the obstacles that oppose my salvation.

Grant me the spirit of knowledge, that I may come to know God and myself, and that my knowledge may grow to resemble that of the saints.

Grant me the spirit of reverence, that with the love of a child I may consider my service to God sweet and amiable.

Grant me the spirit of wonder and awe in God’s presence, that I may be filled with loving respect toward God and always be wary of displeasing Him.

Therefore, I beseech You, O Lord, mark me with the seal of true discipleship and grant that Your Spirit may inspire me in all that I do. Amen.
