## Celebrating a Man of Faith

Good afternoon, I’m Bill Young. Today is January 18, 2016—Martin Luther King Jr. Day. We wish a happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day to all our friends. It’s worth remembering that Dr. King was not only a champion of peace and civil rights, but also a reverend—a man of God.

## A Prayer of Trust

Let us pray together, placing our trust wholly in God, just as Dr. King did.

Father, I abandon myself to You. Do with me whatever You desire. For all that You do, I give thanks. I am ready for everything; I accept everything, as long as it is Your will, both in me and in all Your creatures. I desire nothing else. O God, I place my soul in Your hands. I give it to You, O Lord, with all the love of my heart, because I love You. Out of love, I offer myself completely to You, trusting infinitely, for You are my Father. Amen.

## Why Trust Matters

Dr. King’s leadership was rooted in a profound reliance on God’s providence. When we surrender our will and place our lives in God’s hands, we join that same tradition of faithful trust, allowing God to work through us for the good of all.

*Our deepest strength comes when we, like Martin Luther King Jr., place our whole lives in God’s loving hands.*
