# Prayer for the Deceased – for the Soul of Msgr. Edmond Whyte
*2015-12-27*

> Bill Young leads a special prayer for the soul of his former pastor, Msgr. Edmond Whyte, who died after a long battle with cancer, asking God’s mercy and comfort for his family.

## Remembering Msgr. Edmond Whyte

Good evening, this is Bill Young, and welcome to Prayer at Lunch. I have just learned that my former pastor, the priest who married my wife and me thirty years ago, passed away on April 19th. Monsignor Edmond Whyte had been a vital force in building several Catholic parishes throughout South Florida. He died early Saturday, a week shy of his 78th birthday, after a ten‑year battle with cancer. We give thanks for his life of service and ask that God grant his soul eternal peace.

## Prayer for the Deceased

O loving God, through the heavenly intercession of St. Pio of Pietrelcina, St. Mark the Evangelist, and the Blessed Virgin Mary, we commend the soul of Monsignor Edmond Whyte to your merciful love. Welcome him, beloved servant, into the communion of saints, where there are no more tears, no suffering, and no pain. May he experience the great joy, abundant life, and peaceful rest that flow from your presence. Amen.

## Comfort for His Family

Lord, we also pray for the family of Msgr. Whyte. May they be consoled by the hope of the resurrection and the promise that their beloved father and pastor now rests in your eternal light. Grant them strength, peace, and the assurance that they will one day be reunited with him in heaven.

*May we always remember that, through Christ’s mercy, the faithful departed find everlasting peace, and their loved ones are comforted by the hope of the resurrection.*
