# Sharing the Light of the Gospel in Advent
*2015-12-16*

> Bill Young reflects on the third week of Advent, using Pope Francis’ guide “Opening Our Hearts to God” and a reading from 2 Corinthians to pray for illumination and the courage to bring Christ’s light to others.

## Opening the Advent Reflection

Good evening, I’m Bill Young. Today is Wednesday of the third week of Advent, and we’re turning to the book *Opening Our Hearts to God: Praying Through Advent with Pope Francis*. The theme for this week is “Share the Light of the Gospel.”

## Scripture Reading

Our reading comes from 2 Corinthians 4:6: “For God, who said, ‘Let light shine out of darkness,’ has shone in our hearts to give the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.” This verse reminds us that God’s light dispels the darkness within us and reveals His glory through Jesus.

## Prayer for Illumination

Let us pray:

O God, illuminate our minds and our hearts so that we may obey, without hesitation, the word of your Son, Jesus. Grant us the courage to decide not to be dragged along by the wishes of others, but to move our hands and feet toward those in need, bringing them the love of your Son. May we bring the light of the Gospel into the world. Amen.

*May the light of Christ shine through us, guiding our actions and drawing others to the Gospel.*
