> Bill Young concludes a nine-day novena to Our Lady of Guadalupe on her feast day, reflecting on her appearance to St. Juan Diego.

## The Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe

Good morning. This is Bill Young and welcome to the Prayer N Lunch podcast. Today is December 12th, the feast day of Our Lady of Guadalupe. We are completing today the ninth day of our novena to Our Lady of Guadalupe. We all know the story of how she appeared to a peasant man in the first Aztec settlement outside of Mexico City named Juan Diego. We celebrated the feast day of St. Juan Diego just a few days ago.

## A Personal Celebration

I have something in common with this feast day: it is also my birthday. I thank the Lord, and my mother and father, for giving me birth on this day.

## Morning Prayer and Creed

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Our Lord, come to my aid. O Lord, make haste to help me. Glory be to the Father, and His Son, and the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, the only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell, and on the third day, He rose again. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

## The Ninth Day Novena

O God, you have been pleased to bestow upon us unceasing favors by having placed us under the special protection of the most blessed Virgin Mary. Grant us, your humble servants, who rejoice in her honor today upon earth, the happiness of seeing her face to face in heaven.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

*We express our love for the Blessed Virgin Mary, our Mother, and hope to be with her and her Son for all eternity in heaven.*
