# Day 4 of the Guadalupe Novena: Prayer for Peace
*2015-12-07*

> Bill Young leads the fourth day of the novena to Our Lady of Guadalupe, offering prayers for peace on the anniversary of Pearl Harbor and reflecting on St. Ambrose.

## Opening Prayer

Good afternoon, I’m Bill Young. Today is Monday, December 7th, the fourth day of our novena to Our Lady of Guadalupe. Let us begin in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Lord, come to my aid. Make haste to help me, O Lord. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

## The Apostles’ Creed

I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell, and on the third day rose again. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

## Prayer to Our Lady of Guadalupe

Dearest Mother of Guadalupe, I beg you for a fortified will to imitate your Son’s charity, to always seek the good of those in need. Grant me this, I humbly ask. May my heart be set on heaven. Hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

## Hail Mary and Closing Prayer

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Glory be to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

## Saint of the Day: St. Ambrose

Today is the feast day of St. Ambrose (c. 340–397). A Roman who converted to Catholicism, he was first a governor of Milan. The people, impressed by his holiness, asked him to become their bishop, and he accepted. As bishop, he spoke out against the cruelties of his time, defending the poor and the oppressed. St. Ambrose, pray for us and give us the wisdom to stand against injustice.

*May Our Lady of Guadalupe grant us the courage to work for peace, especially on days that remind us of past suffering.*
