# God isn't fixing this: a response to the New York Daily News

## The Problem of Blaming God

Today, I saw a very disturbing headline on the front page of the New York Daily News: "God isn't fixing this." They were discussing the terrorist attack in California. It is troubling to see the media blame God for the tragedies of the world. If we look at our history, we see the patterns. At Fatima, our Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to three children and warned us—even before World War I had ended—that there would be another great war, which became World War II, and that Russia would not be converted unless people prayed.

When we look at our society today, we see immorality on every TV station. We know that over 100 babies are aborted every hour. Prayer has been taken out of schools, and even sports teams are sometimes restricted from praying on their own time. The New York Daily News is blaming God, but God, through Mary, has told us that we must pray, and pray often.

## A Call to Prayer

There is a stark contrast in what the world celebrates versus what is spiritually necessary. When Caitlyn Jenner first appeared on Twitter, he had four million followers within hours. In contrast, my prayer podcasts may only have 14 listeners a day. Yet, for the last seven years, Prayer N Lunch has provided daily audio prayers.

To the editors of the New York Daily News: I want you to help people pray more. Instead of claiming God isn't fixing the problem, recognize that the lack of prayer is part of the problem. God loves everyone, including the editors of the Daily News. I invite you to pray with me and perhaps even share a link to this show on your front page to see how many prayers can be obtained to stop terrorism.

## The Novena to the Immaculate Conception

Today is the fifth day of our novena in honor of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of Jesus. While the media will likely say "Merry Christmas" on December 25th, I wonder if they truly understand the meaning of Christmas.

I ask everyone to join me in this novena. Let us pray for the 14 souls lost and the 21 injured in the California attacks. Let us pray for those who may try to do us harm in the future. I also urge you: if you see something suspicious, do not be "politically correct," because lives will be lost. Call the police and share that information with your local PD.

## Meditation on the Word of Life

In the first letter of St. John, we read about the Word of Life which has existed since the beginning—which we have heard, seen, and touched with our own hands. This life was made visible in Jesus Christ so that we may share in it and our joy may be completed.

The consent of the Immaculate Virgin Mary at the Annunciation, together with her maternity, marked the beginning of this new life. Through her, life entered the world and victory over eternal death was won. Mary is the perfect model of acceptance and concern for life. God reveals to us through her that the life we are called to is not only that of the body, but more importantly, that of the soul. To truly live is to live the grace of God and to commit ourselves so that all people may live in dignity and purity, saved from sin as children of God.

## Interceding for the Vulnerable

Using a prayer written by St. John Paul II, we entrust the action of life to Mary, the Dawn of the New World. We pray for the tremendous number of children impeded from being born, the poor for whom survival is difficult, victims of inhuman violence, and the elderly and sick who are killed out of indifference or presumed pity.

May all who believe in the Son be able to announce the Gospel of Life with frankness and love. We pray for the grace to welcome life as a gift, the courage to bear witness to it, and the strength to construct a society of truth and love for the glory of God, the creator and lover of life.

*Rather than blaming God for the world's tragedies, we must return to frequent prayer and the Gospel of Life to find true healing and peace.*
