# Novena of the Miraculous Medal (Nov 18‑26)
*2015-11-18*

> Bill Young introduces the novena to the Miraculous Medal, leading listeners through the Apostles’ Creed, a series of Marian prayers, and reflections on the medal’s power to bring conversion and protection.

## Opening and Intent

Good evening, I’m Bill Young. Today is Wednesday, November 18, and we begin the novena to the Miraculous Medal, which will be prayed from November 18 through November 26. We invoke the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, asking God to come to our aid and to make haste in helping us.

## The Apostles’ Creed

We recite the Creed: “I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell, and on the third day rose again, ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting.”

## Marian Prayer of the Novena

We address the Immaculate Virgin Mary, recalling Saint Vincent de Paul’s humble daughter who first received the medal. We ask Mary, “Merciful Advocate, who first appeared to Saint Catherine Labouré to reveal the mysteries of your children, to intercede for those suffering persecution, especially clergy and religious, grant your protection to the faithful. Turn your eyes of mercy toward those tormented by calamities, defend and sanctify the clergy, protect the Church, and may many be converted and saved through the power of this medal.”

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mother of God, pray for sinners. Amen.

## Reflection on the Medal’s Grace

We meditate on Mary’s role as a powerful queen who, like a radiant ring, spreads graces over the earth. We ask that she look beyond our unworthiness and, through her love, let her power shine upon us, granting the graces we need. We pray that the medal become a shield against spiritual enemies and a source of protection for body and soul.

We invoke the medal’s purpose: to convert sinners, heal the sick, and bring consolation to those in misery. “Do not allow, O merciful Mother, that the name of this medal be spoken in vain; rather pour forth your graces and miracles on us and on all who turn to you, that the medal may truly be miraculous.”

## Closing Prayer

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mother of God, pray for us sinners. Now we commend ourselves to your intercession at the hour of death. Amen.

[unclear]—the prayer concludes with a final invocation of Mary’s protection and a plea for her continued aid.

*May the Miraculous Medal become for us a true shield of grace, drawing us ever closer to Christ through Mary’s intercession.*
