> Bill Young reflects on the life of St. James of the Marche and the reality of miracles before leading the community in the Chaplet of the Miraculous Medal.

## St. James of the Marche

Today is Saturday, November 28, and it is the feast day of St. James of the Marche. Born in central Italy in 1394, St. James was a priest who was highly educated, having received two doctorates before his ordination. He was particularly known for his homilies, through which it is said he converted more than 250,000 people. We ask St. James of the Marche to pray for us and for all those in need.

## Reflections on Life and Miracles

There are sad events happening in the world. In Colorado Springs, a man took three lives: innocent policemen and workers of Planned Parenthood. While I am firmly against the killing of the unborn and against organizations like Planned Parenthood, we can never condone murder of any kind. Innocent life is innocent life.

As we prepare for prayer, I want to speak about miracles. I believe in miracles, and I believe God's miracles are for everyone. For example, when Pope Francis was here in the U.S. in Philadelphia, he kissed a baby on the forehead. That baby had a very large brain tumor, as shown on ultrasounds. Three weeks after the Pope kissed the baby's forehead, that tumor was totally gone.

## The Chaplet of the Miraculous Medal

We now begin the Chaplet of the Miraculous Medal. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. O God, come to my aid; O Lord, make haste to help me. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be. Amen.

I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. On the third day, He rose again. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

Immaculate Mirror of God and our Mother, Mary, through the manifestation of your Miraculous Medal, we beseech you to hear our prayers and to grant us the favors we ask. O Mary, you know how troubles and enemies surround us. We can do nothing by ourselves. O Mary, have mercy on us and deliver us. (Three Hail Marys)

O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to you. (Three times)

Most powerful Queen of heaven and earth, through the manifestations of your Miraculous Medal, work the same miracles as you have until now for the benefit of sinners. Through your intercessions, you have led many children who had gone astray back to the Father. We too are sinful children; O Mother, grant that the Father of Mercy may show us mercy for your sake and save us. (Two Hail Marys)

O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to you. (Three times)

Mother of Divine Love, through the manifestations of your Miraculous Medal, inflame hearts with the love of God. The world in which we live does not know that this heavenly fire is precious. We turn to you, O Mother, you who are the treasury of the fire of love. Grant that we may be detached from earthly things and animated only by divine charity. (Three Hail Marys)

O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to you. (Three times)

Refuge of sinners, through the manifestations of your Miraculous Medal, do not ever abandon us, but rather show yourself to be our Mother, especially at the hour of our death. Deliver us from evil spirits, free us from temptations, reveal yourself to us, and with your presence assure us that our death will be precious like that of the righteous. (Three Hail Marys)

O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to you. (Three times)

Mary, Gate of Paradise, through the manifestation of your Miraculous Medal, enrich us with your graces, especially those holy presents of your Mother. Confident in your mercy, we desire to enjoy God's presence in heaven with you. Open the gate of paradise to us, as you have done for many of your children, and save us. (Three Hail Marys)

O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to you. (Three times)

## Closing Prayers

O All-Immaculate Mother, we come before you, drawn by your mercy, to obtain from you the graces we need. Through a spiritual daughter of the great Apostle, St. Vincent de Paul, you revealed your image, radiant with light and a symbol of your mercy for all people. O Mother, enlighten the children of darkness; let them become children of the Church. Devoted to you, spread throughout the world the rays of God's grace, of which you are the treasury, and save poor humanity. May the light shine upon the Church, the mysterious spouse of your Son. Sanctify our priests, convert all sinners, and grant perseverance to the righteous. And may this beautiful prayer sound on the lips of everyone. O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to you.

Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, our life, our sweetness, and our hope. To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve. To thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us, and after this our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary! Pray for us, O holy Mother of God, that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ. Amen.

*May God bless you all and save the souls of those who perished in the Colorado Springs killings.*
