## Feast of St. Ignatius of Antioch

Good afternoon, this is Bill Young welcoming you to Prayer at Lunch. Today is Saturday, October 17th, the feast day of St. Ignatius of Antioch. Ignatius was born in Syria, converted to Christianity, and eventually became bishop of Antioch. Under the persecution of Emperor Trajan, Christians were forced to renounce their faith or face death. Ignatius chose martyrdom, being condemned to die in the arena with the lions.

## Beginning the Chaplet

We now begin the Chaplet of the Most Holy Virgin Mary. Let us pray: “Mary, pray for us. Pray for the homeless, for those in shelters. May we be generous beyond our means. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.”

“Lord, come to my aid. Make haste to help me. Glory to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and shall be forever. World without end. Amen.”

## The Apostles’ Creed

We recite the Apostles’ Creed:

“I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary; suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; descended into hell; on the third day rose again; ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father; He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.”

## Prayers to the Blessed Virgin

I venerate you with all my heart, most holy Virgin Mary. To you I consecrate my soul, my body, and my heart, trusting in your powerful intercession.

“Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.”

I ask these graces through the wisdom and love the Holy Spirit has bestowed upon you as the Mother of our Savior.

## Closing Prayer

Holy Mary, my loving Mother, pray for us now and always. May we remain faithful to your Son and find comfort in your maternal care. Amen.

*Through the Chaplet we entrust our whole being to Mary’s intercession, confident that she leads us ever closer to Christ.*
