# Think globally: one plan for our one world
*2015-10-10*

> Bill Young reflects on the importance of global stewardship and the need for a unified approach to caring for our common home, inspired by the teachings of Pope Francis.

## Community and Celebration

We had a wonderful day celebrating Mass with the Archbishop of Miami at C.B. Smith Park. It was a great event, and I have to say, I think we have the coolest bishop we could have; he made quite an entrance, arriving on his Harley Davidson motorcycle alongside a parade of monster trucks. Happy birthday to Archbishop Winsky. It was a great day with our fellow parishioners, and I heard this will become an annual event, so I am looking forward to next year being even bigger and better.

Additionally, my wife and I attended a night of worship and praise this past Friday at St. Mark's Catholic Church in Southwest Ranches. It was a very spiritual experience. Anytime you are at Adoration, it is a blessing.

## A Global Perspective on Stewardship

We are continuing our journey of walking in prayer with Pope Francis, spending forty days on care for our common home. Today is the 15th day, and the theme is 'Think Globally: We need one plan for our one world.'

When we start to think and act as brothers and sisters, instead of distant acquaintances or masters and servants, our whole approach begins to change. We may begin with local actions—recycling, using fair trade products, or biking and walking instead of driving. However, as our consciousness grows, so does our commitment to global change.

## Taking Action in the Parish

Pope Francis reminds us that since we are all united as one family with a common home, we must have one plan for our world. The time to act is now. We should ponder: Is my parish green? What measures could we begin to take to model good stewardship of Earth's resources? How can we start connecting our actions to what others are doing?

## Closing Prayer

God of creation, open my heart to the neighbors in need. Help me build bridges between neighborhoods and families. Help me see you in all. Amen.

*As one family sharing a common home, we must move from local actions to a unified global plan for stewardship.*
