# We Are All One: Walking in Praise with Pope Francis
*2015-10-09*

> Bill Young reflects on the feast of St. Denis and explores Pope Francis’ message that all living beings are interconnected, offering a prayer for greater awareness of this unity.

## Feast of St. Denis

Good morning, this is Bill Young, and welcome to Prayer and Lunch’s podcast. Today is Friday, October 9, the feast day of St. Denis. Little is known about St. Denis and his companions, but tradition holds that he was martyred in 258 AD as the first bishop of Paris. He came from Italy, converted many people, and was killed together with his companions for the faith.

## Walking in Praise with Pope Francis

We are continuing our 30‑day series on caring for our common home, and today is day 14. Pope Francis reminds us that all living species are tied together in one great interdependent network. The smallest atoms and the largest galaxies are joined in a cosmic dance; every creature, every element, and every human being is interconnected. He warns that our failure to recognize this unity has led to many of today’s ecological and social problems, and that embracing our mutual dependence can bring positive change.

## Today's Reflection and Prayer

Ponder: Where do I need to deepen my faith so that I may begin to recognize our interconnectedness?

Prayer: “God of creation, help me see your glory in every part of creation, even where I least expect it. If I see creation harmed or clouded, give me the courage to reveal it to all. Amen.”

## Looking Ahead

I’ll be attending a seminar on evangelization soon, hoping to learn how best to spread the Word in light of this vision of unity. May God bless you all.

*Recognizing that all of creation is one interconnected family calls us to deeper faith and responsible stewardship.*
