Good morning. This is Bill Young, and welcome to Prayer and Lunch. Today is Friday, October 2nd, the Feast of the Guardian Angels. We’ll begin by praying the traditional prayer to our guardian angels.

## The Prayer to Our Guardian Angel

Most gracious Angel, my guardian, tutor and master, my guide and defense, my wisest consolation, my most faithful friend: the Lord, in His goodness, has entrusted me to your care. From the day of my birth to the last hour of my life, I owe you great respect and gratitude, knowing you are close to me at all times. I thank you for the love with which you cherish me. What great confidence it gives me to know that you are my assistant and defender.

Holy Angel, instruct me, correct me, protect me, keep me safe, and guide me along the right path that leads to the holy city of God. Let me not do anything that would offend your holiness and purity. Present my desires to the Lord, offer Him my prayers, show Him my weakness, and obtain for me the purification of my soul through the infinite goodness and motherly intercession of Mary, most holy Queen of Heaven.

Watch over me when I sleep, revive me when I am tired, strengthen me when I am about to fall, raise me up when I have fallen, show me the way when I am lost, comfort me when I lose heart, enlighten me when I cannot see, and defend me when I am in trouble—now and especially on the last day of my life. Be my shield against the devil. With your defense and guidance, help me to enter the light‑filled dwelling place where I may give thanks to you and glorify Christ our Lord and the Blessed Virgin Mary, our Queen, together with you forever and ever. Amen.

Their presence offers comfort to parents who worry for their little ones, and it gives every believer confidence that we are never alone.
