# Day Three of the Triduum to Our Guardian Angel
*2015-10-01*

> Bill Young leads the third day of the three‑day Triduum to the Guardian Angel and completes the third day of the Chaplet to Our Guardian Angel, celebrating the feast of St. Thérèse of Lisieux.

## Opening Prayer and the Creed

Good afternoon, this is Bill Young. Today is Thursday, October 1st, the feast of St. Thérèse, the Little Flower. We begin with a prayer to the Holy Trinity: “Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, come to my aid; O Lord, make haste to help me. Glory be to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be.”

We then recite the Apostles’ Creed: “I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth… I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord… He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell, and on the third day rose again… He will come again to judge the living and the dead… I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.”

## Third Day of the Triduum to the Guardian Angel

“Most merciful guardian of my soul, you who humbled yourself by descending from heaven to earth to minister to poor creatures like me, grant me firm belief that I can do nothing without your powerful help and the grace of our Lord. Angel of God, my dear guardian, to whom God has committed me, be at my side day and night to light, guard, rule, and guide me. Amen.”

## Third Day of the Chaplet to Our Guardian Angel

We repeat the Trinitarian doxology and the Apostles’ Creed, affirming our faith as above.

Then we pray: “My guardian angel, I beseech you to increase your loving care for me, that by overcoming all obstacles to virtue I may be freed from the misery that oppresses my soul. May I preserve reverence for your presence, ever fearful of your displeasure, and follow your holy counsel faithfully, that I may one day enter eternal happiness together with you.”

We conclude with the traditional prayer: “Angel of God, my guardian dear, to whom God has committed me, be at my side day and night to light, guard, rule, and guide me. Amen.”

## Closing Blessing

God bless you all, and a special greeting to my friend Andy from Miami.

*May we trust more deeply in the constant protection and guidance of our Guardian Angel.*
