# Prayer for success in examination
*2015-09-18*

> Bill Young discusses the intercession of St. Joseph of Cupertino for students and those facing exams, providing a specific prayer for clarity and success.

## The Patron of Students

Today is Friday, September 18th, the feast day of St. Joseph of Cupertino. For all college or high school students, or anyone preparing for some kind of exam, we can turn to St. Joseph. He faced significant challenges when he was becoming a friar and a priest, but he overcame them through prayer and study.

## The Life of St. Joseph of Cupertino

St. Joseph lived in the 17th century and possessed a unique gift: when he prayed, he levitated. While this was a gift, it was also a cross he had to bear, as some people viewed him more as a circus side show than a man of God. Despite these distractions, he remained faithful.

## A Prayer for Examinations

We pray to St. Joseph for success in our tests and for the grace to prepare well. Here is the prayer: O humble St. Joseph of Cupertino, since you were favored by God in overcoming the difficulties of study and worries of examinations, I implore the Holy Spirit to enlighten my mind and strengthen my memory in search of His truth and wisdom. Help me especially in the decisive moments of this examination, protecting me from that forgetfulness and disturbing anxieties which often affect me. May I succeed in offering God my finest work, and may I grow in knowledge, understanding, humility, and clarity. May everything that I attempt to learn in life be offered in faithful service to God, from whom flows that wisdom which leads to eternal life. Amen.

## Closing Intercessions

St. Joseph of Cupertino, pray for me. Our Lady of Good Studies, pray for me. Holy Spirit, enlighten me.

*By seeking the intercession of St. Joseph of Cupertino, students can find the strength to overcome anxiety and the clarity to offer their academic work for the glory of God.*
