## Feast of the Most Holy Name of Mary

Good morning, this is Bill Young welcoming you to the Prayer and Lunch podcast. Today, September 12, 2015, we celebrate the feast of the Most Holy Name of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Mary always points us to God, reminding us of His infinite goodness and helping us open our hearts to His ways.

## Prayer to the Holy Name of Mary

Oh Mary, powerful Mother of God and Mother of mine, I am unworthy to name you, yet you love me and desire my salvation. Grant that, even though my tongue is unclean, I may always be allowed to call on your name. May your most holy and powerful name be my defense, for your name is the help of the living and the salvation of the dead. Most pure Mother, sweetest Mary, let your name become the breath of my life. Our Lady, do not delay in coming to my rescue whenever I call on you. In all temptations and needs, I do not want to cease invoking you, repeating your name continually, especially at the hour of my death, that I may praise your beloved name eternally.

## Personal Devotion and Trust

Clement, loving, sweet Virgin Mary, what comfort, sweetness, trust, and tenderness my soul feels when pronouncing your name or merely thinking of you. I thank my Lord and my God who gave you this admirable and powerful name for my benefit. It is not enough for me to call on you only on special occasions; I want to invoke you often and with all my love, letting my love prompt me to call upon you every hour.

## Final Petition

Oh Jesus, my Redeemer, and Mary, my Mother, when the moment of my death approaches, grant that my last words may be “Jesus and Mary.” I give you my heart and my soul. Amen.
