# Novena to the Most Holy Name of Mary
*2015-09-03*

> Bill Young leads the novena to the Most Holy Name of Mary, which is prayed from September 3‑11, and shares prayers invoking Mary’s name for grace, protection, and the hour of death.

## Opening Blessing

Good afternoon, I’m Bill Young. Let us begin the novena to the Most Holy Name of Mary, which we pray from September 3 through September 11. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Lord, come to my aid. All‑Lord, make haste to help me. Glory to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, now and forever. Amen.

## The Apostles’ Creed

We now pray the Apostles’ Creed.

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell, and on the third day rose again. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

## Prayer to the Holy Name of Mary

Most adorable Trinity, through the love with which you chose and delighted in the most holy name of Mary, from eternity, grant that this name may be a source of grace for all who invoke it.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, my love, pray for us sinners now at the hour of our death. Amen.

May the holy, sweet, and powerful name of Mary be blessed forever, praised, honored, and invoked throughout my life, especially at the hour of my death.

## Petition for Grace and Protection

Beloved Jesus, through the love you have for my dear Mother, Mary, I ask you to grant me a humble heart, a servant of Mary, that I may be placed under her special care.

Holy angels, grant that I may invoke Mary’s name for all my needs, especially at the hour of death.

Dear St. Anne, mother of the Blessed Virgin, intercede that the sweet name of Mary may always be on my lips.

May the name of Mary become my breath, my rest, my food, my defense, my refuge, my shield, my song, my music, my prayers, my tears, and my whole life, united with the name of Jesus.

## Closing Prayer

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for our sinners now at the hour of our death. Amen.

In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

*Invoking the Most Holy Name of Mary throughout our lives draws us into her grace and prepares us for the hour of our death.*
