> Bill Young leads the seventh prayer of a Marian marathon, reciting Pope Paul VI’s prayer to Mary, asking for her intercession for peace, unity, and the salvation of the world.

## Introduction

Good morning, I’m Bill Young. Today is Saturday, August 22, the feast of Our Lady of Queenship, and we’re continuing our Marian prayer marathon with the seventh prayer, written by Pope Paul VI.

## The Prayer to Mary

O Mary, upon all humanity, in this modern world where the divine plan has been entrusted to us to live and to work, we see a world that turns its back on the light of Christ. It groans in the fearful shadows it has created for itself.

Most holy Virgin, most beautiful among virgins, most worthy among mothers, blessed among all women, turn the world’s gaze toward life, toward you, the light of all people, the lamp of Christ, the supreme light of the world. Grant us the joy of living as God’s creation, the desire and capacity to cooperate with our Maker, who has reflected His mysterious and blessed image in us.

Implore for the world the virtue to regain every gift from God, the wisdom to use those gifts with prudence and providence, and the goodness to act for the common good. Grant peace to the world; may those divided become brothers and sisters, and may society become more orderly and united.

Comfort the suffering, grant eternal rest to the deceased, and show your mercy as a mother to us all. This is our prayer, O Clement, O Loving, O Sweet Virgin Mary. Amen.

*May Mary’s maternal intercession lead us to peace, unity, and a deeper cooperation with God’s gifts.*
