## Feast of the Queenship of Mary

Good morning, I’m Bill Young. Today is Saturday, August 22, the feast of the Queenship of Mary. In honor of this feast we are offering a series of Marian prayers, and the next one is the prayer to Our Lady of Loreto.

## The Holy House of Loreto

The Holy House of Loreto is traditionally believed to be the very house where Mary, Joseph, and the infant Jesus lived. According to tradition, the house was miraculously transported from Nazareth to Loreto, Italy. I’d like to share a short hymn that is often sung there:

"Mother Mary, you bring us peace today. You give us joy through your Son. Teach us to love Jesus, gentle and loving, as you are."

Now let’s hear the prayer.

## Prayer to Our Lady of Loreto (John Paul II)

O Mary, we turn to you in your Holy House of Loreto, recalling the mystery of God made man in your most pure womb by the power of the Holy Spirit. We adore this most precious event and the supreme love of God for us. Your example encourages us to trust in your beloved Son so that we may build our lives according to the Gospel.

Mother of mercy, obtain for us from Jesus forgiveness of our sins and deliverance from evil. Grant salvation and peace to all humanity, still plagued by hatred and selfishness.

Following in the footsteps of the countless pilgrims who for centuries have come to this house, we too place in your hands our commitment to a true and deep conversion. May the house of Nazareth become our home, a model for living faith and hope, so that the Holy Church may grow in the domestic churches of our families and the love of Christ may spread everywhere.

O Clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary, we pray. Amen.

## Closing Blessing

May God bless you all.

*May the Holy House of Loreto inspire us to make our homes true domestic churches rooted in Mary’s example.*
