*2015-08-22*

> Bill Young leads a heartfelt prayer to the Blessed Virgin Mary on the Feast of the Queenship of Mary, asking for her maternal protection and intercession for sinners.

## Opening and Context

Good afternoon. This is Bill Young, and welcome to the Prayer at Lunch podcast. Today is Saturday, August 22nd, the Feast of the Queenship of Mary. We are continuing our marathon of Marian prayers, now offering the 17th prayer in the series.

## The 17th Prayer

O most holy Virgin, you called yourself the humble handmaid of the Lord. You were chosen by the Most High to become the mother of His only‑begotten Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. We admire your greatness and invoke your maternal goodness. We know that you look upon us with the tenderness of a mother, because, by the grace of God, we have become your children. Therefore we lift up our hearts to you. We consecrate ourselves to you with total trust, committing ourselves to your heavenly protection so that you may watch over our path with love. Gather us into your maternal embrace, O Mary, as you embraced your divine Son.

## Traditional Hail Mary Repetition

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

## Closing Doxology

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.

*May Mary’s maternal care guide us ever closer to Christ.*
