> Bill Young reflects on the upcoming U.S. visit of Pope Francis, invokes St. Bernard’s intercession, and leads the Chaplet of Divine Providence.

## Preparing for Pope Francis’ U.S. Visit

Good afternoon, I’m Bill Young. As many of you know, Pope Francis will be traveling to the United States next month, visiting Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, and New York City. I plan to attend the Washington events and pray that the Holy Spirit guides him as he speaks to our leaders—our President, Congress, the Senate, and the United Nations. May he find the words that move our society toward a culture of life.

## Invoking St. Bernard for the Pope’s Mission

We ask St. Bernard of Clairvaux, a great 12th‑century priest, mediator, and defender of the Church, to intercede for Pope Francis. Saint Bernard, pray for the Holy Father, that he may be a true peacemaker in the halls of power and that his message on the dignity of human life will be heard.

## The Chaplet of Divine Providence

Let us pray the Chaplet of Divine Providence together.

In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

**Our Father beads** – “Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, graciously hear us. Most Pure Heart of Mary, graciously hear us.”

**Hail Mary beads** – “Most Holy Providence of God, provide for us.” (Repeated as the beads are counted.)

**Closing prayer** – “Look upon us, Mary, with your eyes of mercy. Come to our aid, O Queen, full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for our sinners at the hour of our death. Amen.”

We conclude with the Trinitarian doxology: “Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.”

## Prayers for the Saints and the Faithful Departed

In honor of St. Joseph and St. John Cabrera we repeat the Trinitarian doxology. We pray for the souls in purgatory: “Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace.”

We also remember our brother Eugene Barry, who recently received his last communion. May he be welcomed into heaven, and may his wife await him there. Grant, O Lord, that all who have helped us may be rewarded with eternal life for the glory of your holy name. Amen.

*May Pope Francis’ visit inspire us to live out the Gospel’s call to love and protect every human life.*
