# A Rosary for Priests – The Glorious Mysteries
*2015-07-26*

> Bill Young leads a special rosary for priests, praying the Glorious Mysteries and invoking Mary as Queen of the Clergy to sustain priests in their ministry.

## Opening and the Creed

Good afternoon, I’m Bill Young. Today, July 26, 2015, we pray a rosary for priests using the Glorious Mysteries. We begin with the Apostles’ Creed:

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; He descended into hell, on the third day rose again from the dead, ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of the Father; from there He will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

## Our Daily Prayer

We continue with the Our Father, the Hail Mary, and the Glory Be, offering each prayer for the priests of the Church:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

## The First Glorious Mystery – The Resurrection

Jesus rises from the dead and appears to the apostles. We pray that priests, who may feel the darkness of depression or discouragement, remember that the crucifixion is always followed by the resurrection. May they share in the joy of the Risen Christ and be strengthened to continue their ministry.

## The Second Glorious Mystery – The Ascension

Jesus ascends into heaven after instructing the apostles. We ask that priests faithfully carry out Christ’s command to evangelize the world, that missionaries may bring the Gospel to the poor and the marginalized, and that every priest may be a true apostle of the New Evangelization.

## The Third Glorious Mystery – The Descent of the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit falls upon the apostles and Mary. We pray that priests be open to the Holy Spirit’s gifts, that they may be fire‑filled to bring souls to Christ, and that they may persevere in the demanding work of conversion and pastoral care.

## The Fourth Glorious Mystery – The Assumption of Mary

Mary is taken body and soul into heaven. We ask that priests look to Mary as their mother and refuge, finding in her love the strength to resist the attacks of the enemy and to remain faithful to their vocation.

## The Fifth Glorious Mystery – The Coronation of Mary

Mary is crowned Queen of Heaven and Earth. We pray that she be the model of faith, joy, and guidance for every priest, that the crown of souls entrusted to them may be their reward in heaven for faithful service.

## Closing Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Hail Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, our life, our sweetness, and our hope, we cry to you, poor banished children of Eve. Show us the blessed fruit of your womb, Jesus. O loving Virgin Mary, pray for us that we may be made worthy of Christ’s promises. Amen.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

*May Mary, Queen of the Clergy, guide and sustain every priest until they receive their heavenly crown.*
