> Bill Young discusses the practice of consecrating one's family to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, utilizing the promises made to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque.

## The Month of the Sacred Heart

Good afternoon. This is Bill Young and welcome to the Prayer and Lunch podcast. Today is Sunday, June 28, and we are completing the month of June, which is dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

## The Promises of St. Margaret Mary

Today's prayer is the Consecration of the Family to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, based on the revelations given to St. Margaret Mary. This is a beautiful prayer of consecration for those who live with love and faith, allowing them to experience the truth of the divine promises made by Jesus. He promised, 'I will bless the house where the image of the Sacred Heart is exposed and venerated and put peace in their families. I will pour forth great blessings on their work, and I will be their secure refuge in life, especially before their death.'

## Practical Steps for Consecration

For a practical way of making this consecration, let the family gather together in a spirit of contemplation before a blessed image of the Sacred Heart, perhaps embellished by flowers and lit by candles. After a moment of silence, either the father or the mother may lead the act of consecration.

## The Act of Consecration

The prayer begins by recognizing Jesus as the King of our souls and proclaiming His sovereignty over all creatures. While some may resist His reign, we repent to Him with the greatest adoration and love. We ask Jesus to reign over our families and each individual member—reigning in our souls so that we may believe the truth He taught us, and in our hearts so that we may follow His divine commandments.

We ask that the Divine Heart be the only sovereignty of the souls He acquired by means of His precious blood. We pray that His blessings be poured out upon our works, undertakings, health, and interests, in both joy and sorrow, prosperity and adversity. We ask for peace, unity, respect, mutual love, and good examples to reign among us, and for protection from danger, illness, misfortune, and above all, sin. Finally, we ask that our names be written in the most holy wound of His heart, so that having been united as a family here on earth, we may find ourselves united in heaven to sing the glory of the triumph of His mercy.

## Closing Prayers

To conclude this devotion, we pray the Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be, and the Hail Holy Queen.

*By consecrating the home and family to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, we invite His peace, protection, and sovereignty into our daily lives.*
