# Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary
*2015-06-25*

> Bill Young reflects on the life of Blessed Jutta of Thuringia and leads a prayer of consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

## The Example of Blessed Jutta

Today is Thursday, June 25th, the feast day of Blessed Jutta. Born and raised in Prussia, which is now part of Germany, Jutta was a noblewoman. She and her husband made a pilgrimage to Jerusalem, but unfortunately, her husband passed away during the trip. Upon returning home, Jutta decided to sell her clothes and jewelry. After providing for her children, she gave the remainder to the poor and the sick, even taking many of the sick into her own home to care for them. Her life's goal became the service of the poor and the infirm.

## A Call to Service

I hope the youth of today can learn from Blessed Jutta the importance of helping those less fortunate than ourselves and the value of visiting the sick.

## Consecration to the Immaculate Heart

Today's prayer is a consecration to the Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary:

O Immaculate Heart of Mary, honored with goodness, show your love towards us. May the flame of your heart, O Mary, descend on all humankind. We love you so; impress true love in our hearts, so that we have a continuous desire for you. You, O Mary, humble and meek of heart, remember us, for we are in sin. You know that all people sin. Give us, by means of your Immaculate Heart, spiritual health. Let us always see the goodness of your maternal heart, and may we be converted by the means of the flame of your heart. Amen.

*Following the example of Blessed Jutta, we are called to serve the poor and seek spiritual health through the maternal love of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.*
