# The chaplet of protection

> Bill Young introduces and prays the Chaplet of Protection, a devotion intended to seek divine shelter from natural disasters, spiritual strife, and personal hardships.

## Purpose of the Chaplet

I found a prayer at my church, St. David's in Davie, Florida, called the Chaplet of Protection. It is said that Jesus attached specific promises of protection to this prayer. While it is often used during storms, natural disasters, and military strife, its power extends further. It can be used for broken men, broken marriages, and various spiritual, physical, and emotional troubles. It operates in a dimension of protection even greater than we can fully understand at this time.

In the context of increasing military tensions and natural disasters, there is an urgency to spread this special devotion. However, it is important to note that this is not intended to replace the everyday Rosary of our Blessed Mother.

## How to Pray the Chaplet

The Chaplet is prayed using the beads of a standard Rosary. On the crucifix, we begin with the Apostles' Creed. On the first large bead, we pray the Our Father followed by the petition: "Holy God, Holy Omnipotent One, save us who dwell in this land."

The first three Hail Mary beads are dedicated to specific intentions: the first is in praise of God the Father, the second is for petition, and the third is in thanksgiving, with confidence that your petitions will be granted. For the remainder of the Chaplet, every Our Father bead is followed by the "Holy God, Holy Omnipotent One" petition, and every Hail Mary bead is replaced with the phrase: "Jesus Savior, Merciful Savior, spare your people."

At the conclusion of the fifth decade, we pray three times: "Son of God, Eternal Son, thank you for the things you have done."

## Promises of Jesus

There is a beautiful promise associated with this devotion. It is stated that on February 24, 1999, Jesus said of those who pray this Chaplet of Protection: "I will give them what they ask. I will open their hearts. I will protect them. I will love them all. I want them to know of my love. I want to give them my peace. I want to open their souls to me. Please know that I am with you."

## A Prayer for Current Storms

As we recite this prayer today, we are mindful of the tropical storm currently active. We pray that it remains only as rain and moves safely away. Let us enter into this prayer with confidence in the Lord's protection over us and our land.

*By praying the Chaplet of Protection, we open our souls to the peace and love of Jesus, trusting in His promise to protect and provide for those who seek Him.*
