## The life of St. Marguerite d'Youville

Today is Monday, June 15th, the feast day of St. Marguerite d'Youville. Born in Quebec, Canada, she is the first Canadian-born saint. As a young widow with three children, she devoted much of her time to performing charitable activities. In 1737, she founded the Grey Nuns and took over as director of the General Hospital in Montreal.

## A legacy of compassion

The Grey Nuns established schools, hospitals, and orphanages throughout Canada, the U.S., Africa, and South America. They are particularly famous for their work among the Inuit people. In honor of St. Marguerite, we remember that trust is the first and most important thing.

## A prayer of total trust

My God, my God, my God, not only do I trust in you, but I trust in you alone. Give me, therefore, the same spirit of abandonment to accept the things I cannot change. Give me also the spirit of strength to change the things I can. Give me finally the spirit of wisdom to discern that which truly depends on me. Thus, may I do only your Holy Will.

*True peace is found in the spirit of abandonment and trusting in God's Holy Will alone.*
